Polyester, cotton and nylon sewing threads for machine and hand sewing, embroidery and repairs. The Sewing Threads category at Soteo includes spools in dozens of colors, embroidery threads, transparent thread and heavy-duty threads for thick fabrics, chosen with tailors, alteration workshops and home sewists in mind. Polyester thread is the most versatile: it's strong, has a slight stretch and doesn't fade in the wash, so it works on almost any fabric, from cotton to jersey and synthetics. Cotton thread doesn't stretch and takes dye well, which makes it a good fit for natural fabrics, quilting and items that will be dyed after sewing. Thick, extra-strong threads are used for denim, leather, bags and upholstery, while transparent nylon thread disappears on almost any color. Thread thickness is shown by a number: the higher the number, the finer the thread. As a guide, No. 150 and above is for very fine fabrics, No. 100–120 for everyday seams, and No. 30–50 for denim, decorative stitching and heavy materials. Choose your machine needle to suit the thread and fabric: a thick thread needs a needle with a larger eye.
